One of Britain’s rarest breeding birds has arrived in Cattistock.  Well, not one, more like 50! Is the collective noun a charm, trembling or trimming of hawfinches?  Whatever it is we’ve got them here in a corner of the field adjacent to Fullers Earth’s paddock.  We also have twitchers and bird ringers too.  Collective noun – a nuisance?  Seriously though it appears that these birds have found their normal continental winter haunts too cold and have done a reverse BREXIT and arrived in Dorset.  And very pretty they are too – noisy blighters as well.  Everyone is delighted.  Honesty note:  this picture is a media image, it isn’t one of ours.  They really are devils to photograph – just won’t keep still!
